Àguila Negra
Bocaccio Records, 1971
_
In January 1971 Maria del Mar Bonet performed a series of concerts in Madrid in a small venue, Bourbons, which normally hosted jazz concerts, with great public expectation and where the press gave her very good reviews. At these concerts she met Alain Milhaud and Oriol Regàs who had a project to set up a new record company, Bocaccio Records.
In March 1971 she changed record company and manager, and would now work with this new publisher that aimed to reach the rest of the Spanish State, Bocaccio Records. The first joint production was the single L’Àguila negra, an adaptation of the song by the French singer Barbara with a version in Catalan by Delfí Abella, and which included a song she wrote herself, No voldria res més ara. It was recorded in August, the arrangements were directed by Jacques Denjean and in September the record was presented in the Sala Bocaccio in Barcelona with the aim of having a major media impact. In December L’Àguila negra, for the first time a song sung in Catalan, came to form part of the Spanish hit parade and received the Disc d’Or for this single, which for the singer represented her consolidation as one of the best voices in the Spanish State.
In April she shared the stage with Georges Moustaki in the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, after the French singer had heard her and suggested accompanying her.
On the 20th of October she gave a concert together with Madó Buades, a singer of traditional music from Mallorca in Campos, as part of the “1st Festes de les Lletres a Campos”.
On the 27th of November she shared the stage with Ovidi Montllor again in the Palau de la Música Catalana.
During 1972 she toured the whole Spanish State, ending in the Auditorium of Palma on the 20th of December, a concert that was attended by the painter Joan Miró.
