From Cuba to Mallorca. Ultramar is the culmination of Maria del Mar Bonet’s career, which celebrates its 50 years on the stage. Ultramar is the tour that ended on Wednesday at the Teatre Principal in Palma and the record that the singer recorded in Cuba, on the other side of the ocean.
It was a long-awaited concert – it had to be held on September 30 – and with high expectations, as Bonet, a more than consolidated artist, faced some sounds that she did not know. Or that seemed, at least, before that appointment that, sure, will go down in history. Bonet knows a lot about stories, for having lived them and, especially, for wanting to share them. This was demonstrated this Wednesday, once again, to his loyal followers. «I would like to say many things», he confessed, at the beginning of his performance. And so he did, although briefly. He told the crowded Great Hall of the Principal where each song came from, its gestation and birth, as the first image he saw when he arrived in Havana: a hummingbird in a hibiscus. […]
